A formation compressed into a single surface.

This piece translates the vertical rhythm of columnar basalt into a more compact, grounded composition. Instead of opening outward, the structure rises as a dense cluster — almost like a miniature skyline carved from volcanic matter. The form sits firmly on the band, resembling a signet, but replaces symbolism with terrain.

From the side, the ring reveals its true nature: a layered topography resting on a textured band, where every mark echoes erosion, pressure, and time. The surface is intentionally irregular — each column slightly different, as if shaped by natural forces rather than imposed symmetry.

The oxidized finish accentuates depth and contrast, allowing light to move across the piece and reveal new details at every angle.
